HydrovoX News | Warmly Welcome Ocean Professionals from Indonesia to Visit HydrovoX
Summary:
On the afternoon of March 25, accompanied by leaders and faculty from the First Institute of Oceanography, Ministry of Natural Resources, a delegation of marine experts from the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia and General Sudirman University visited HydrovoX for an in-depth exchange on the application of Unmanned Surface Vehicles in ocean observation and detection.
The National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia was restructured in 2021 as the country’s primary national research institution. Its Institute of Earth Sciences and Oceanography is a key national-level organization in Indonesia’s marine science research system. General Sudirman University, founded in September 1963, is one of Indonesia’s leading comprehensive universities. Its Institute for Research and Community Service and the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences have strong research capabilities in areas such as ocean upwelling dynamics, coral reef monitoring and restoration, and marine biodiversity studies.
HydrovoX warmly welcomed the visiting Indonesian marine colleagues. The two sides engaged in friendly discussions and jointly strengthened cooperation in the field of marine science and technology.
Doctoral student Wu Jianxin delivered a presentation titled “Typical Applications for Black Pearl Unmanned Surface Vehicle”, systematically introducing the company’s development status in marine observation equipment. He provided an overview of the working principles of the “Black Pearl” Unmanned Surface Vehicle and its applications in air–sea dynamic environmental profiling, air–sea CO₂ flux observation, meteorological and hydrological monitoring, and marine mammal acoustic surveys. He also showcased recent technological breakthroughs achieved by the company, including sail-assisted propulsion, vision-based assisted obstacle avoidance, and UAV integration extensions for Unmanned Surface Vehicles.

After the presentation, core technical experts Chen Chongzhe and Li Xinyi chaired a technical discussion session, focusing on key topics such as payload configuration, operational sea states, cost considerations, energy systems, communication reliability, and navigation and positioning of the Unmanned Surface Vehicle.
Subsequently, doctoral researcher Ma Siyuan guided the Indonesian marine delegation on an on-site tour of the equipment. The visitors sequentially inspected different models of Unmanned Surface Vehicles, including SV1, SV2, and SV3. Detailed explanations were provided regarding the mechanical structure of the Unmanned Surface Vehicle, as well as the functions of key components such as the surface float, armored tether cable, and subsurface glider unit.
In addition, the applications of various electro-acoustic, optical, and electromagnetic sensors in ocean observation and detection were introduced, including the communication module, single-channel hydrophone, multi-element linear array, micro meteorological station, and ADCP.

Indonesia is an important maritime nation within ASEAN and the world’s largest archipelagic state, endowed with rich ocean resources. In particular, Indonesia’s maritime power strategy is highly aligned with China’s Belt and Road Initiative, and the country places great emphasis on developing marine education and strengthening cooperation with China.
The visit of Indonesian marine colleagues marks that the Unmanned Surface Vehicle developed by HydrovoX has reached an internationally advanced level, playing an increasingly important role in global air–sea interaction observation. It also holds significant importance for the “Black Pearl” Unmanned Surface Vehicle in expanding into international markets and enhancing its regional and global influence.
